“Lalu Island” is a small mountain located in the middle of Nantou Sun-Moon Lake, and is the ancestral spirit island of the Shao people. “Lalu” means “holy mountain” in the Shao language. Lalu Island is like a lonely island in the ocean, or a mysterious island floating in the sky, with the beautiful blue-green lake of Sun Moon Lake. Lalu Island is the site of the Shao tribe and has a strong Shao cultural atmosphere. The Shao people also plant Kabuto trees on the island to symbolize the cultural continuity of their descendants. Although the island is currently planned as an indigenous people area, the general public cannot visit the island at will, but they can enjoy the dreamy view of the floating islands in the lake from the Xuanguang Temple on the shore of Sun Moon Lake.
