Located next to Sun Moon Lake in Yuchi Township, Nantou, ” Shuishe Great Mountain” is the highest peak of Sun Moon Lake with an elevation of 2,059 meters and was once one of the small 100 mountains in Taiwan. The total length of the trail is 5.6 kilometers, and it takes about 6 to 8 hours to complete the whole trail. The difference in elevation is as high as 1,300 meters, making it a moderately difficult trail for those who are willing to challenge themselves. Because of the large difference in elevation, the trail goes from broad-leaved forests and bull camphor forests at lower elevations to the temperate Yushan arrow bamboo forests, showing the variety of forests and species in the Shuishe Mountain. If you follow the trail to the top of the mountain, you can look down on Sun Moon Lake and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery of the Central Ra., which makes you forget the fatigue of hiking and enjoy the baptism of nature.
