Ida Shao, formerly known as Dehua Society, is the place where the largest number of indigenous Thao people live. Every year, in August of the lunar calendar, the Shao tribe holds a grand ritual in Ida Shao, which attracts many visitors to join the event. Ida Shao has the most lively shopping district in Sun Moon Lake, and is a must-see for visitors to Sun Moon Lake. The main streets of the shopping district are planned in three vertical and one horizontal streets, where gift stores, B&Bs, and restaurants are located, and various kinds of specialties are sold on the street, such as mountain pork sausage, millet mochi, bamboo rice, and other aboriginal foods, which are mouth-watering. When you come to Sun Moon Lake, you can’t miss the famous Sun Moon Lake black tea, so have a cup of sweet and aromatic Red Jade tea and bring a few boxes of black tea egg rolls as a souvenir!
