2025 Nantou 100K Bicycle Town Tour Launch – Collect Beautiful Trophies Over 6 Years

This year, the “Nantou Tourism 100K Bicycle Town Tour” event is entering its third year. Today (April 15), a press conference was held at the first-floor lobby of the Nantou County Government, with Deputy County Mayor Wang Ruide representing County Mayor Xu Shuhua. Deputy Mayor Wang stated that Nantou County currently has over 495 kilometers of bike lanes, with a total of 68 routes. These routes feature beautiful natural scenery, rich cultural industries, a safe and friendly cycling environment, and many unique small towns, making them perfect for leisurely cycling experiences. He also announced this year’s series of activities, including a themed event and six other sub-events, inviting cycling enthusiasts to explore Nantou’s most iconic scenic areas and charming towns, allowing domestic and international visitors to enjoy a relaxed, healthy domestic travel experience in Nantou.

The first event of this year’s series, “Puli Fuxing Leisure Ride,” will kick off on April 19 at the Puli Fuxing Hot Springs Parent-Child Park. According to statistics, around 5,000 people participated in bike rentals last year, demonstrating the event’s popularity. This year’s event will be rich in content, combining activities for Earth Day, including a lively bike ride, school green action points collection, a forest market, and a green action theater performance. The bike route will allow participants to enjoy rural landscapes and mountain views, visit the Gahawu mural wall, succulent secret spots, and the Maotou Mountain Trail, offering the most chill spring cycling tour.

The Nantou Tourism 100K Bicycle Challenge, on June 28, will start from the National Taiwan Literature Museum in Zhongxing New Village. The route passes through Nantou City, Caotun Township, Guoxing Township, Puli Township, Shui-lin Township, Jiji Township, Zhushan Township, Zhongliao Township, and Mingjian Township, forming a loop around Nantou’s small towns. The challenge will lead cyclists through Nantou’s beautiful mountain scenery and offer a tour of the tranquil lakes and mountains. At the same time, a cultural and food ride will take place in Nantou City, where participants can join different themed riding activities and freely select their preferred session.

New routes such as the Mingjian Tour on July 26 and the Caotun Bird’s Mouth Lake Cycling on August 16 will introduce new attractions. Bird’s Mouth Lake is an ecological construction, where the shoreline incorporates natural stone features. The water’s surface reflects the sky, creating a stunning lakeside view. This area is not only a vital water resource project but also serves ecological conservation and tourism purposes. The tea industry, religious culture, and natural landscapes in Mingjian are rich, with the famous “Songbai Evergreen Tea” and the historical “North Polar Xuantian Temple” located on Songbai Ridge’s Shoutian Temple.

On August 9, the Zhushan Township Rural Cycling and August 23’s Jiji Cultural Cycling will explore religious and historical cultural heritage through cycling, allowing participants to discover the mysteries and beauty of Nantou’s cultural and agricultural charm.

Additional events will include children’s scooter races at the Taiwan Literature Museum, Mingjian Eco-Park, and Caotun Craft Museum. These races are perfect for family participation.

Since taking office, County Mayor Xu Shuhua has focused on sustainable development for Nantou, aiming to build a low-carbon, sustainable, and livable city, with a focus on tourism and promoting low-carbon cycling and green travel programs. Deputy Mayor Wang emphasized that the county government is committed to deepening the brand of this event, with new milestones to be achieved this year. The newly designed medals will be made with sustainable materials, bringing fresh ideas to the event. Participants who complete the cycling challenge and collect all medals over the six years will receive a special trophy in the final year, completing the full Nantou cycling map and adding deeper meaning to the event.

The event will run from now until August, with new routes planned and events focused on collaborating with local industries. Additionally, the “Marketing Nantou” campaign invites tourists from all over Taiwan to visit Nantou’s cycling routes and take part in the event. Participants will receive local Nantou specialties or 2025 Nantou Tourism 100K commemorative bicycle water bottles. The event also promotes a low-carbon and sustainable environment and offers opportunities to collect stamps from participating stores, exploring Nantou’s local food and traditional products. Cycling enthusiasts are invited to slow down and relax while enjoying the beauty of Nantou.

The press conference was attended by distinguished guests and media professionals, making it a lively and exciting event. Representatives from the Legislative Yuan, Nantou County Council, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and the local tourism and cultural sectors were present, along with various local celebrities and community leaders.

Deputy Mayor Wang noted that over the past two years, this event has led domestic and international tourists to deeply explore Nantou’s hidden corners and scenic spots by bike. No need to travel abroad – you can enjoy relaxing, delicious, and leisurely travel experiences in Nantou, which boasts the most beautiful highland hills, streams, and rivers, with year-round sunshine and pleasant temperatures.
