Nantou County’s Tung Blossom Small Tours and Hakka Tung Blossom Festival will kick off on the 20th with various towns and townships taking turns to host the events.

In recent years, Taiwanese people have increasingly emphasized leisure travel. With the Tung Blossom season approaching, the county government is organizing three Tung Blossom Small Tours and one Hakka Tung Blossom Festival from April 20th to May 25th to meet the travel demands of the public. The itinerary was explained during a press conference held on the morning of the 3rd at the county government’s first-floor lobby. Deputy County Magistrate Wang Rui-der and distinguished guests attended the event to inaugurate the activities.

This year’s Nantou County Tung Blossom Festival series of activities are jointly organized by the Cultural Bureau, and Nantou City, Guoxing Township, Shuili Township, and Puli Township. The planned itineraries include “Tung Companion, Tung Learning, Tung Tour, Guoxing Hakka Village” in Guoxing Township, “Snow Trekking to Witness Hydroelectricity, Artistic Tung Blossom Encounter with Deer” in Shuili Township, “Puli Tung Tour Hakka Village Peach Rice Fun” in Puli Township, as well as “2024 Tung Blossom Festival – Tung Tour Nantou 139” in Nantou City.

Each route and activity has its own unique features. Visitors to Nantou can not only experience rich natural ecology and distinctive Hakka cuisine but also explore Hakka villages and Tung Blossom attractions, enjoying the hospitality of the locals.

Deputy County Magistrate Wang introduced the itinerary planning and hosted the opening ceremony at the press conference, with booths showcasing Hakka cuisine and cultural artworks on the side. County Councilors Lin Ruyang, Jian Qianxiang, Cultural Bureau Director Lin Rongsen, Nantou City Mayor Zhang Jia-zhe, Guoxing Township Mayor Qiu Meiling, and others were also present, inviting people from all over the country to join in the “Tung” participation and “Blossom” in happiness, and enjoy a good time in Nantou.

Deputy County Magistrate Wang stated that with Tung blossoms blooming in April and falling in May, this season resembles white snow, creating a romantic and beautiful atmosphere. Tung blossoms used to be an economic crop for the Hakka people. Besides its economic value, it also promotes local tourism development. This time, the county government has carefully planned three routes and one event, inviting people from all over the country to come to Nantou County, immerse themselves in the beautiful mountains and waters of Nantou, taste Hakka cuisine, and experience the unique Hakka cultural charm.
