The Nantou World Tea Expo will be held from October 4 to 12, coinciding with the National Day fireworks on October 10, adding even more excitement to the event. The Nantou County Government is inviting visitors from across Taiwan to enjoy fine tea and dazzling fireworks in Nantou, while encouraging the public to take shuttle buses to the fireworks main venue at the Nantou County Agricultural, Industrial and Commercial Exhibition Center.
The National Day fireworks will be launched along the Maoluo River in Nantou City. During today’s joint press conference for the “Flavorful Rhythms” Tea Expo and the National Day fireworks, county officials estimated that visitor numbers will exceed last year’s 970,000, reaching 1 million this year.
According to the county government, the Tea Expo will feature large-scale events such as the “One Heart, Two Nights” concerts, Thousand-Person Tea Banquet, Thousand-Person Tea Ceremony, Thousand-Person Lei Cha (Hakka Ground Tea), Malasan Picnic, and Thousand-Person Hand-Shaken Drinks. The expo will also include interactive zones like “Tea Mountain” and “Six Steps of Tea Making”, where children can learn about tea production through play.
Although the exhibition areas have been slightly adjusted this year, the event still includes 35 themed zones and over 300 vendor booths.
This year marks the first time the National Day fireworks will be held in Nantou. The show will feature 32,393 fireworks launched over 40 minutes, divided into 12 themed segments. Highlights include the debut of the “Colorful Ink Fireworks”, which combine daytime smoke effects and nighttime illumination shells to create spectacular displays resembling ink-wash paintings in motion. Unlike previous years that featured symphonic music, this year’s show will include dual DJs performing live mixes, creating a unique fireworks music party experience.
To help distribute crowds, high-altitude viewing areas will be set up at Yijing University and Wanglai Industrial Park in Nantou City. The fireworks will also be broadcast live at the Exhibition Center and Tea Expo venues. On October 10, traffic control will begin at noon, with six shuttle bus routes available. Visitors can take shuttles directly from the Tea Expo to the fireworks venue or transfer from stations in Nantou City, Caotun Township, or Mingjian Township. The county government encourages visitors to use shuttles or public transportation to avoid congestion.
