Tea Research and Extension Station in Yuchi is located in Maolan Mountain, Nantou County. Standing outside the administration building of the station, one can see rows of black tea plantations along the slope of the mountain, surrounded by the mountains of Nantou, with a charming and beautiful scenery. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery of the tea gardens, the station has set up the “Tea Culture Exhibition Hall”, which preserves the black tea factories of the Japanese era, and there is also a Japanese dormitory built with cypress to let people understand the history of the development of black tea in Taiwan. The station is definitely responsible for the fame of Yuchi black tea. As early as the Japanese era, Nantou Maolan Mountain was already a research center for Taiwan’s large-leaf black tea, and after several changes, it became the current Yuchi Branch of the Tea Research and Extension Station, COA. Since its establishment, it has cultivated a variety of black tea varieties, among which the most popular is Taiwan Tea No. 18 Red Jade Black Tea.
