The Batongguan Ancient Trail was an important construction of the Qing Dynasty that opened up the mountains and fostered the development of Taiwan over the centuries. On the way to the Fenghuanggu Bird Park, climb up the quiet and mossy stone steps to reach the entrance of the ancient road. Next to the entrance is a huge, natural stone with the words “Ten Thousand Years of artery road” inscribed by Wu Guangliang, the chief soldier during the Qing Dynasty. Although the ancient road is no longer in use today, people can still look at the stones with a sense of age and think of the hard work of the ancestors in the past.
