Dengying College was built in 1847, and was the first academy in the Cao-Tun area. Although it has undergone many renovations, it is still intact as it was when it was first established, which is a rare historical and cultural asset.

During the Japanese era, the original function was replaced by the Wenchang Ancestral Hall, which was dedicated to the god of literature. To this day, Dengying College still features an annual spring festival, which is held on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar by people dressed in ritual costumes to pray for the success of candidates.
