It took less than 100 years for the natural lacquer industry to flourish in Taiwan, and various manufacturers withdrew from the market or sought to transform. However, out of a sense of mission to give back to their ancestors and preserve the local characteristics, the proprietors of “Longnan” established the “Taiwan Natural Lacquer Museum” in 1985, despite the poor business. Today, Longnan has officially changed the name of the museum to “Longnan Museum of Natural Lacquer Wares” and continues to promote the cultural and industrial value of natural lacquer.
