Considered as a sacred tree by local people, the Yongxing Great Camphor Tree is 300 years old and is a unique landmark in Yongxing Village, Shuili Township, Nantou County. The circumference of the tree is 6.2 meters and the height of the tree is 26 meters. The large tree group often gathers local residents to talk about the sky and play in the shade, and is also the center of local people’s faith. The old camphor tree group is formed by three mother and child trees, and there is a temple of the Great Tree God and a temple of the Land God built by villagers underneath the trees. People often come here to pray for marriage, and couples come to worship to bless their families with happiness and peace. Whenever there is a temple fair, opera and pugilism are also performed under the canopy of the tree group, which is a common memory of the old generation of villagers.
