Spring
Cherry Blossom Season
February and March is the season for viewing cherry blossoms in Nantou. The cherry blossoms in Aowanda, Sun Moon Lake, Shima Park, Caopingtou… and other places are in full bloom during this period. Enjoying tea, having a picnic under the cherry tree, and feeling the colorful scenery of falling cherry blossoms are the best enjoyment in spring.
Hakka Tung Blossom Season
From the end of April to the beginning of May, is when the tung tree flower blooms. The meaning of the tung tree flower is strong, and it also represents the Hakka spirit of diligence, thrift and perseverance. Tung tree is also called “the snow in May”, because its peak blossom period, the mountain when be cover with white tung tree flower as it is cover with snow.
Fireflies Season
Every April to June, it is the peak season to look for fireflies, and Nantou is also known as the largest fireflies habitat in Taiwan. Fireflies is mainly found in Sun Moon Lake, Zhushan, Pei Kong Creek and Aowanda Forest.

Zhongxing New Village Lotus Season
Every year from May to June in Zhongxing New Village, the lotus ponds on both sides of Shengfu Road will bloom beautifully. It is highly recommended to go to Zhongxing New Village to see the
Stargazing Season
A series of stargazing activities are carried out from August to November. Certified by the International Dark Sky Association, Nantou’s International Dark Sky Park is a paradise for stargazers.
Tour de Nantou
Held on the first Sunday of June every year, the participants ride from Mingjian Township, to Jiji Town, and then return back to Zhushan Zinan Temple. The race will cover around 99. Kilometers, the challenge route is relatively gentle, along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the towns and cities in Nantou.
Fall
Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival
Every year around Mid-Autumn Festival, tens of thousands with join the famous Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival. It is the the largest event in Sun Moon Lake, and the whole journey is about 3,000 meters. This is the best event for every swimming enthusiast.
Nantou Global Tea Expo
Nantou Global Tea Expo is held in every October. During the event, unique tea samples from all around the world displayed and sold.
Chocolate & Coffee Festival
Held in parallel with Nantou Global Tea Expo, Chocolate & Coffee Festival chocolate and coffee products to the exposition. Visitor could not only explore Nantou local goods, but also support small famers by directly purchasing products in the exposition.
Come Bike Day
This is one of the most important cycling events in Taiwan. The event will be held at Sun Moon Lake, in the series of activities such as 30km around the lake challenge.
Sun Moon Lake Music &Firework Festival
The Sun Moon Lake Music and Firework festival, held from every October to November, is a major event for Sun Moon Lake during autumn period. The festival combined literature and firework elements to create a unique experience that represent the romantic and artistic atmosphere of the lake.
Winter
Aowanda Autumn Leaves Season
From November to following January, Traveler could enjoy Aowanda’s beautiful autumn leaves scenery, as Aowanda is known as the hometown of autumn leaves.
Nantou Flower Carnival
Winter is the best season to explore different kinds of flower in Nantou. The Nantou Flower Carnival will be held from December to February. During this period, you could witness the beauty of plum, cherry, and orchids blossoms.
Nantou Hotspring Festival
Nantou County is rich in hot springs, tourism, leisure and recreational resources. There are three hot spring areas: Pei Kong Creek, Dongpu and Puli. The hot springs are mainly sodium bicarbonate springs, which are neutral springs that can beautify the skin and promote blood circulation. The Nantou County Government organizes the Hot Spring Festival every winter, advertising local industrial characteristics and successfully increasing the number of tourists to Nantou.
Lantern Festival
The Lantern Festival will feature 15 exhibition areas with unique themes. The 10-meter tall stationary lanterns of the 12 zodiac animals are one of the eye catching features, and in 2021, there will be Water feature architectures placed beside Mauluo River, combined with lighting effects and fireworks to create an unforgettable New year event.
