The 2026 Nantou Camping Carnival will take place on October 31 at Chenggong Square in Guoxing Township. Under the theme “Look (露) at Nantou,” this year’s event will join forces with the local “Qiang Cheng Gong” (Seizing Success) Festival, bringing together live music, camping equipment exhibitions, Hakka cultural experiences, and local cuisine. Visitors from across Taiwan are invited to discover the charm of autumn camping and mountain-town tourism in Nantou.
The Nantou County Government held a press conference on October 22 to announce the event highlights. Deputy County Magistrate Wang Jui-te introduced the program, while County Councilors Lin Ju-yang and Chien Chien-hsiang attended to show their support. Deputy County Magistrate Wang noted that Nantou’s rich natural ecology and beautiful landscapes make it an ideal destination for camping tourism.
Since its launch in 2023, the Nantou Camping Carnival has grown into an annual celebration, now entering its fourth year. By integrating camping with Hakka culture, music, cuisine, and local industries, the county government continues to enrich the event experience. This year, the carnival will also collaborate with Guoxing’s distinctive “Qiang Cheng Gong” Festival, encouraging visitors to stay overnight, explore the area, and immerse themselves in Nantou’s local culture and traditions.
This year’s entertainment lineup features DJ Yao Jiao, who will energize the crowd with a lively music party. The evening concert will feature performances by Golden Melody Award-winning singer Luo Shi-feng and Nantou-born singer-songwriter Cheng Ke-chiang.
The venue will bring together camping brands and local vendors offering camping equipment, specialty foods, and souvenirs. Visitors can also explore displays of luxury camper vans, unique camping trailers, and various types of tents, providing a comprehensive look at different camping styles.
In addition to the performances and exhibitions, the event will offer Guoxing coffee DIY workshops, Hakka traditional costume experiences, Hakka cuisine, and cultural and artistic activities. These experiences will allow visitors to discover Guoxing’s local industries and Hakka heritage while enjoying a fun-filled day. Visitors can also participate in a stamp-collection lucky draw, with the grand prize being a complimentary two-day, one-night luxury camper van experience.
According to the county government’s Tourism Department, visitors staying at registered camping sites in Nantou during the event period can present proof of accommodation to redeem a mini suitcase. The event also promotes pet-friendly tourism and environmental sustainability. Visitors who bring 10 used batteries for recycling will receive an opportunity to enter a lucky draw. An online “Camping Knowledge Challenge” will also be available, allowing participants who complete the challenge to enter another prize draw.
To stimulate local spending, the county government is collaborating with the “Dian Dian Tou” digital lifestyle rewards platform and encouraging visitors to plan a two-day, one-night trip to Guoxing. By exploring nearby attractions and sampling local delicacies, visitors can help extend the carnival’s economic benefits to surrounding shopping districts and businesses.
Meanwhile, the county government continues to work with professional teams to assist camping operators in obtaining legal registration, improving site safety and service quality, and promoting the sustainable development of the camping industry.
Deputy County Magistrate Wang warmly invites families and travelers from across Taiwan to visit Guoxing. During the day, visitors can experience local coffee culture and explore camping equipment displays. In the evening, they can enjoy live music and the warm hospitality of this charming mountain town, creating unforgettable autumn memories.
