想看風景的人才需要上島爬步道，若買了環湖船票，可以加減上岸買茶葉蛋，若是特地為了蛋上岸，那就不必了……到處都有香菇＋紅茶滷的蛋可買，甚至飯店早餐就有機會吃到。附近最好吃的蛋推薦去喝喝茶觀光廠，網路上可以直接google評價，蛋真的更好吃。

面湖環境優美，很有人氣的寺廟，許多遊客到此，為拍日月潭石碑，還要等侯排隊，青龍山布道隱祕，綠竹樹林茂盛，非常有仙氣的步道。
古色古香、環境清幽，日式建築古剎主祀玄奘大師，傳遞大唐西域取經大行文化歷史知識，遠眺日月潭對岸碼頭及光華島近景，禪機處處。
