Jiji Line Trip

The Jiji Line is the longest branch line of the Taiwan Railways, with a total length of 29.7 kilometers. It includes seven stations, including Ershui and Yuanquan in Changhua and Jhuoshuei, Longquan, Jiji, Shuili, and Checheng in Nantou, and has become the pioneer of Taiwan’s tourist railway because of its rich tourism features.

The Ershui Station located in Changhua is the first station of the Jiji Line as well as the important station which connects the branch lines of the Jiji Line and Western lines.

Checheng Station

Checheng Station is the terminal station of the Jiji Line, and "Cheng" means "field" in Taiwanese. In the past, the sugar factory in Puli delivered sugar to Checheng Station, and there were many trucks parked in front of the station like a parking lot, which gave the station its name.

Checheng Route

The Taiwan Trip Checheng Route travels between Sun Moon Lake, Shuili and Checheng, passing through Crescent Bay, Shuishe Dam, and Xiangshan Administration Center along the way to enjoy the waterfront scenery in the center of Taiwan as well as the special tour center, Tou She and Snake Kiln, and finally leads passengers to Checheng Station, the most beautiful wooden station in Taiwan, to experience the quietness of the "last station."

Sun Moon Lake Route

The Sun Moon Lake Route starts from Taichung Gancheng Station and passes through important transportation stations such as Taichung Station, Daqing Station, and Taiwan High Speed Rail Taichung Station, as well as scenic attractions such as Niuer Stone Carving Park, Puli Winery, Chung Tai Chan Monastery, Jinan University, Paper Dome, Antique Assam Tea Farm, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, and finally arrives at Sun Moon Lake. (Some trips are extended to Xiangshan Visitor Center)

Q&A

  • Take Taiwan Railways to the Ershui Station and take Jiji Line
  • You can take a day trip by train along the route, or ride a bicycle on the Jiji Line, please refer to “Tour Recommendations” for details.
  • Bananas are abundant in Jiji, and plums are abundant in Shuili. Banana egg rolls and plum products are recommended local specialties, and you can also buy Jiji train ticket coockies full of railway characteristics as souvenirs.
  • It takes 50 mins from Ershui Station to Checheng Station.

Flamed noodles, banana ice cream, wooden barrel launch box, Shuili meatball, Erping ice pop, etc.
