The Geographic Center of Taiwan Monument in Puli is located on the Hutou Mountain in Puli, which is the geographical center of Taiwan, so it was set up as a monument to commemorate and is also known as the “Heart of Taiwan.” The surrounding scenery is so picturesque that the late President Chiang Ching-kuo once inscribed the monument’s base with the phrase “Shan Ching Shui Hsiu,” which means beautiful mountain in Chinese, hence the name “Shan Ching Shui Hsiu Monument”. With a wide view of the entire Puli Basin, the monument is also a landmark where you can enjoy the sunrise, sunset and the night view.
